chihuahuaofdoom, our 4 year old son Loen, our big dog Cheyenne, our little dog Mandy, our older cat Inigo, our younger cat Mischief, and our rabbit George II. We moved out to Washington State in July of 2008.
My quirky, quixotic "inner self" has been finding its way to the surface a lot more often recently, both in writing and speech. It tends to baffle people as I generally come across as polite, soft-spoken, innocent-seeming, and maybe even a little shy.
I'm one of those calm, quietly competent people that's always there in the background; the kind you rarely think about until you need help. At the same time, I'm also somehow alarming to quite a few other people; perhaps I pay attention too well (i.e., I focus directly on the person that I'm talking to), or it could just be my (meager 5'9") height.
It always surprises people when my sense of humor surfaces. I have yet to find anyone else who laughs at even most of the same things I do. Few people are able to tell when I'm joking, so usually I don't.
My sense of religion is highly unusual as well. You'll find that won't be a problem in forming a friendship with me as I don't discriminate toward people who believe differently than me, or even those who choose not to believe in any type of higher power. I won't try to convert you to my way of thinking about God, and though I may on rare occasions talk about it in my journal, unless opinion is solicited, I won't invade your space with it. Please return the favor.
The story behind my username is pretty simple, actually, and no, turtles aren't my favorite animal of all time (frogs are my favorite wild animals and house cats are my favorite domestic animals). I was "funkyturtle" back at Diary-X. When that site crashed on February 12th, 2006, I wound up over here. Thus, "onceiwasaturtle" ... does it make sense now?
